I like bikes ...

...and all that comes with them. The 2010 Dirtbag Challenge. I have no idea who won. I do know that last years winner, Turk, did not finish his bike because they ran out of welding wire. Sucks. Great party. I was actually surprised at how many people I knew.

...brought me on the bus, and dug out a blacklight from a box. I helped him put it up on the fence outside the Fillmore in SF. Then I went back to the bus and hung out for about an hour or so to stay out of the crowd. Had a great time, miss him.

This could be the reason the bike failed to start.

 

 This is the ground cable from my battery. It's all kinds of bad, and was hanging from a sliver of wire on the frame. Yeah, that'll mess things up.

I just ordered this

The Nightwatch. Horror stories narrated by Peter Lee. 1975. I have been trying to find this since 1985. The copy I used to have was damaged by the heater in a Volkswagen Beetle. The first thing I'm doing when it arrives is making it digital. Psyched.

I have the wheel, I want the caliper, mount and rotor. And I don't want to pay $200 for them. Picky picky picky.

Framed!!

I framed a comics page from 1925 for my dad. He held on to this for so long, even getting it laminated sometime in the '60s. There are comics on both sides, so I framed it to be reversed. It will sit on a wall mounted shelf for viewing.

I was in oakland today eating at the Tofu House on Telegraph at 48th. Spotted this cool shop I'd heard about for years but never bothered to check out. They have all kinds of stuff. Ended up with two belt buckles. One for my son, made in 1975, and one for me.

They had to end at 9:55 and played til 10:03. An early show for a lot of us. An interesting thing was the large number of people who hung out for the first couple of songs and then split, realizing it was Furthur. I was surprised at how warm the park got after the sun went down and the wind stopped blowing. Maybe it was the dancing.
